Got Braces? Smile!
Got braces? Some ramblings on braces, my orthodontist and how nice my smile looks now that I have got the braces off. :)
How I got braces
My case was a tough one. In order to get my teeth straightened I had to remove two wisdom teeth (from the lower jaw) and two teeth from the upper jaw. Not the front ones!. The period I had to wear the braces wasn't bad at all, even when taking into account the pain at the beginning and the weird looking metallic smile. It was the period before I got braces that made me miserable, because I did not want to go through teeth removal surgery and my parents manipulated me emotionally into thinking that a crooked smile would be a death sentence. I am glad I got braces in the end, because they really did fix my smile, but the mindfuck emotional manipulation was unpleasant. I am looking at you mum and dad!
Why I like my orthodontist
Many teens my age say that their orthodontist pisses them off and doesn't let them ask questions about braces and stuff. For that reason, I consider myself lucky - my orthodontist tests uses modern methods on me, which means I only had to wear braces for two years. I am still going through treatment, but it's nothing visible to the eye and I can enjoy a smile without braces. She also answers any questions that I ask her without treating me like a little kid who won't understand.
My new smile
Braces did a lot to fix my crooked smile. I envy people who have naturally straight teeth and don't have to go through treatment, but not that much, now that my smile is just as good as theirs.
