Lost Data - Insane ways to lose data

Lost Data.

Do you think it will take a lighting strike or a freak accident to lose your highly valued data? Well, think again. All it takes to lose your precious files and documents is people snooping around your PC and moving folders around.

Lost Data

Lost Data

At least half of the people I have met would delete seemingly unimportant documents thinking it would clean up your disk, thus resulting in lost data and a lot of grief on your part. It has happened to me a lot of times, and, it can happen to you too. Let me count the occasions I lost data because someone thought it was smart to tidy up MY pc.

Lost Data 1

A little kid was in my room (some family friend's daughter) and I was playing a video game. When I went out to get a snack she jumped at the opportunity and started creating "New folders" on my desktop. She apparently also thought it was a nice idea to delete half my desktop folders. When I got back, I saw all the useless New directories (New Folder (1), New Folder (2) and so on) and proceeded to delete them and then emptied the recycle bin, thus completely erasing the useful folders the brat had sneakily deleted behind my back!

Lost Data 2

My father deleted half my music files in an attempt to clean up my disk. In fact he deleted the whole directory, because it was labeled "Funky Tunes" (yeah, lame I know, but that's not the point here) but I was fortunately able to recover half the files using a file recoverer that cost 30$ (which he forked out trying to make it up to me, by the way). So what if I give my folders strange names! Nobody, NOBODY has the right to erase these folders without consulting me first!

Lost Data 3

I still haven't figured out how my sister managed to delete my data (a folder with web links and misc notes that were really useful to me) while trying to copy files from a directory on my PC to her mp3 player. I don't know how she did it and it will probably remain an unsolved mystery! I mean, I just left the room for a couple of minutes, then she said she was done and I realized a folder on my desktop was missing and the recycle bin had already bin been emptied.

So what's the moral of the story, ladies and lads? Even your own family is out to get you! Don't ever leave your PC unattended. Or if you have to unplug the keyboard or something, so that nobody can move stuff around and delete your precious files.
