One problem was the nature of demons. Now we know that demons are not simply wicked angels but or are the by-products of the ancient half breed nephilim. I'm not dealing with religious matters here. I'm just trying to present the truly interesting story of the Nephilim. Whether you believe this story, is a matter of faith.
In case you are wondering, what the Nephilim have to do with Lara Croft is that in the next Tomb Raider game, the Angel of Darkness, Lara will probably be dealing with them; as a crazed alchemist wants to reproduce the biblical race of the Nephilim. Click

About
The word which is translated, "giants", in the King James version of the Bible is, in Hebrew, "Nephilim", which means, "Those who fell, or ... the fallen ones". (los caidos for the Spanish). It refers to the children of angels who got sexually involved with women on Earth. The Nephilim are hybrid creatures, evil spirits with human bodies. The Bible uses other names to describe these degraded fallen angels and their descendents in addition to the word Nephilim, such as "Raphaim", "Anakim", "Emim", "Zuzim", "Zamzummims ", "Zophim", "Sepherim". People call them "Watchers" too, but most likely, this is the former name of their fathers (the angels who breeded with women). The Nephilim are mentioned in the book of Enoch, chapter 6 of Genesis.
History
"The B'nai Elohim saw the daughters of Adam, that they were fit extensions.
And they took wives for themselves from all those that they
chose...The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and even
afterwards when the B'nai Elohim CAME IN TO the daughters of Adam,
and they bore to them -- they were Powerful Ones which
existed from ancient times, the men of name.

According to Myth & Legends among other sources, 200 Watchers descended upon Ardis, the summit of Mount Hermon and took human form. Their leader was Semyaz. They saw the beautiful women and each one took one as his wife. They carried out their plans of breeding with the "daughters of men" and of teaching their Earthly mates and Man(kind) the secrets of the Heavens, i.e., Magic, Divination, Spells, Weaponry, Metallurgy, Cosmetics, Jewelry, Abortion, Astrology, Herbalism, Writing and many other secrets.
The women became pregnant and gave birth to great giants whose heights were three hundred cubits. These giants(the Nephilim) consumed the produce of all the people until the people detested feeding them. So the giants turned against the people) in order to eat them.
The Angels then taught women charms, enchantments, the cutting of roots, and the knowledge of plants. They taught men how to make various weapons and armor, and also arts and sciences. These acts led to an increase in lawlessness and warfare. The men of earth then cried out to heaven, and the four archangels (Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel) cried out to God. In response, God sent Uriel to warn Noah that there would soon be a flood that would destroy the wickedness on earth. Michael was commanded to bound Semyaza and his associates in the valleys of the earth. The same thing happened to their sons, the Nephilim. According to the Bible, they will remain there until the day of judgment when they will be cast into the fire.
In the next Tomb Raider game, Eckhardt will try to recreate the monstrous race of the Nephilim.
Clarifications
Some people say that the Nephilim didn't get destroyed in the great flood and still remain as evil spiritual forces. It's also mentioned that Nephilim were not gigantic in size, but in strength, ability and intelligence. I am saying these things for completeness' sake.
