THE STORY
Lara Croft is employed by Jacqueline Natla ,to find an artifact rumored to be
hidden in a temple in Peru. When she finds it she realizes that it is one of the 3 parts of a more important artifact, the Scion,which is the key to activating the Great Pyramid of Atlantis. She also discovers though, that Natla, her employer is not what she seemed to be. She was one of the 3 rulers of Atlantis and she had one of the 3 pieces of the artifact. The other two belonged to Tihocan and Qualopeg. However, she abused its powers, creating a race of monsters which destroyed Atlantis. The other 2 rulers froze her into what they thought would be an eternal prison. She, however, managed to escape and now wants to create mutated species again. Lara has to stop her, but that's quite difficult, because she is both powerful and intelligent. Lara now needs to find all the three pieces of Scion, race against Natla's henchmen and then go to Atlantis for the final battle.

ENVIRONMENTS
Lara visits Peru and other places in South America, Italy, Greece, Egypt and finally Atlantis. You will explore ancient ruins and temples, palaces, pyramids and escape from deadly traps and enemies. The game has 15 full levels.
SECRETS
There are various numbers of secrets in each level, ranging from 1 to 5.They might be medipacks, ammo, or even weapons. There is always a special sound played when you locate a secret. There is no bonus if you find all the secrets in the game or in one level. Their purpose is to provide bonus gameplay to those who seek for it.
SAVING YOUR GAME
In the PC and Macintosh version there are unlimited saves but in the Playstation and Saturn you can only save when you find a save crystal. That makes things more difficult.
ARSENAL
There are only few weapons in TR1 but the next games have more.
1.Pistols:The "official" weapon of Lara Croft. Pistols are not very powerful but they have unlimited ammo. It's better use them when your enemies can't reach you.
2.Magnums:They aren't much better than the pistols, they are just a little faster.
3.Uzis:They can put many rounds very quickly so use them for dangerous enemies that have to be killed before you get a lot of damage. There is not very much ammo for them for you to find though.
4.Shotgun:It is powerful but you don't find many ammo through the game so use it sensibly. It is effective at a close range only and it is quite hard to aim with.
TRAINING LEVELS
The training level takes place in Lara's Mansion in Surrey. You can practice swimming ,running e.t.c and get used to Lara's moves in the assault course she's built in her mansion. However, when you pull Lara out of the indoor swimming pool, the level ends. The outfit she wears there is very elegant, but that's the only place we get the chance to see it.
TOMB RAIDER 1 GOLD: UNFINISHED BUSINESS-INFO
The gold edition includes four new levels and is called "Unfinished Business". Actually, the first 2 levels are called "Shadow of the Cat" where you have to find the ancient temple of the Egyptian goodness "Bastet" in the city of Khamoon and retrieve the "statue of the cat". The other 2 levels are called "Unfinished Business" where Lara returns to Atlantis and tries to stop the alien invaders. There are 1 to 4 secrets in each level(ammo, medipacks, weapons)that give you no bonus if you find them all in a level or in the game...
